Shu-Yu LIU (b.1995) was born in Taipei, Taiwan, and lives and works in Bali, New Taipei. She graduated from Taipei National University of the Arts with an MFA in Printmaking in 2023.

Her works focus on the development and expansion of urban space and explore how people utilize spaces and construct things. She observes, studies, and collects elements between urban and suburban areas, trying to question the border and definition of ideality.

Recently, her work has shifted to a specific psychological concern, the state of dwelling and belonging. She tries to cross the boundary between two-dimensional and three-dimensional spaces, discussing the sense and the possibilities of space. Consistently tends deconstruction and reassembly, attempting to comprehend the composition of the world through artistic expression, her practice combines printmaking, digital painting, and installation.

She was selected for Contemporary Sculpture Lih Pao Prize (2021), and awarded with Art Scholarship of Long Yen Foundation (2019). Her exhibition proposal “Alchemizing Mist” was selected in the Exhibition Open Call organized by New Taipei Gallery (2022). “Floating Dust” was selected for Canopy Project by Hong Foundation and exhibited in Project Seek (2019).
