The mangrove-lined shoreline is the closest walking path to my home. At high tide, fallen branches drift along the water’s edge; when the tide retreats, they settle into the mudflat, aligning in parallel formations that resemble the movement of waves.
Using clay as a sheet of paper, I cast these arrangements directly from the site. In doing so, the spatial relationships between the tides, the mudflat, and the mangrove forest were transcribed into my notebook, becoming a page seemingly torn from the landscape itself.
