About
Shu-Yu
LIU (b.1995) was born in Taipei, Taiwan, and lives and works in Bali, New
Taipei. She graduated from Taipei National University of the Arts with an MFA
in Printmaking in 2023.
Her work has long focused on the development of urban spaces and human interaction, crossing the boundaries between two-dimensional and three-dimensional spaces to explore the perception and potential of space. Her practice combines printmaking, digital painting, and installation, breaking things down into elements to re-examine and recombine them, creating new relationships and orders. Through her work, she attempts to comprehend how the world is constructed. She describes the interaction between the body and materials to a form of "three-dimensional chartography," exploring and marking the relationship between herself and the external world.
She was selected for Contemporary Sculpture Lih Pao Prize (2021). She also awarded with Visual Arts Regular Grants of National Culture and Arts Foundation (2022), and Art Scholarship of Long Yen Foundation (2019). Her exhibition proposal “Alchemizing Mist” was selected in the Exhibition Open Call organized by New Taipei Gallery (2022). “Floating Dust” was selected for Canopy Project by Hong Foundation and exhibited in Project Seek (2019).
