Imagine that you live on a blank piece of land, where nothing exists yet. Your home stands right at the center. When you open the door and step outside, what do you see?
Perhaps there needs to be a road first—some roads run straight, while others turn and curve. There should also be streetlights, so you can find your way home at night. Turn a corner, and beside the road stands a large tree; beneath it, an elephant slide waits in the shade…
What kind of city would you like to live in?
Let’s complete this map together.
Extending from the exhibited work Le Flâneur: Geography, I designed a series of stamps featuring urban elements. Viewers are invited to work with the idea of component-based printmaking, recalling or imagining spatial environments within the city and assembling these elements into a collectively formed landscape.
