Museums are often imagined as vast and white spaces. Adults frequently remind us not to reach out and touch the artworks. But beyond these untouchable objects, have you noticed that there are actually many surfaces in the exhibition space that can be touched—each with distinct textures? Some walls feel grainy beneath the fingertips; the benches in the lobby reveal the wood grain, worn smooth and slightly polished through years of use; the indoor floors are made of smooth stone, while the outdoor ground is rough concrete.

What materials can you discover in the museum? Do they come from columns, walls, or floors?

In this workshop, participants will explore the museum with their feet and sense different materials with their hands alongside the artist. The textures they encounter will be transferred through rubbing and assembled into a personal “sensory map.”
