Imaginary Blueprint: Let’s Build a Temple
Session 1|2020. 09. 20
Session 2|2020. 09. 27

The deity Luo Mingtao, originally worshipped in the Fuxing Temple in Yingge, transitioned from a worshipped deity to an exhibited artifact in the Yingge Ceramics Museum in 2016. Imagining the construction of a new temple for the deity, the concept was explored through the idea of an "imagined blueprint." Instead of directly designing a complete temple, the structure was divided into components, with each participant completing one part. This method created a fragmented, puzzle-like structure that showcased the unique and diverse imaginations of individuals, reflecting the lively possibilities of local faith.

The workshop began with an introduction to the belief in the ceramic deity and the traditional architectural forms of temples. Participants used paper relief techniques and everyday textures to create embossed patterns, which were then transferred onto cotton paper through rubbing, akin to paper sculptures. The final workshop results were mounted and displayed as a large piece of artwork.
