The earliest version of Taipei Bridge, the first bridge to span the Tamsui River, was built more than a century ago. Guandu Bridge has connected the two riverbanks for more than forty years. In 2026, the Tamsui River welcomed the opening of Tamkang Bridge, a new landmark that set several engineering records. Stretching from the middle reaches of the river to its estuary, these three bridges not only connect people across the water, but also trace the history of Taipei, reflecting the city's transition from waterborne transportation to land-based travel.

On land, buildings surround us and shape the way we see the city. Everything rises above our heads. On the river, however, the same buildings seem to shrink into miniature models. Distance and a parallel point of view transform our sense of scale and our sense of space.

This workshop invites participants to reflect on their own experiences of moving through the city by land and by water. By navigating between these different perspectives, we will explore how each mode of travel shapes a different way of seeing and experiencing the city. Through group discussion and relief rubbing with recycled beverage cartons, participants will share their own spatial memories of the city connected by these three bridges.
